Bronze Sculpture Signed by Maximilien Fiot

Majestic bronze sculpture of a deer signed by Maximilien Fiot.

The casting and engraving were carried out by the Susse Frères foundry.

The intricate details, the proud posture of the animal, and the finesse of the engraving make this bronze piece a true collector's item.

Louis-Maximilien Fiot, known as Maximilien Fiot (1886-1953), was a French sculptor.

A student of the sculptor Prosper Lecourtier, he exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1910 to 1914.

A member of the Salon des Artistes Français, Fiot received a 3rd medal in 1911, followed by a 2nd medal in 1913.

As an animal artist, Fiot also participated in the production of War Memorials during the interwar period, like many of his colleagues. In 1930, he created "Le Lion veillant sur les enfants morts pour la Patrie" (The Lion Watching Over the Children Who Died for the Homeland) for the town of La Ferté-Alais, where his mother lived.

Animals were his primary subjects: birds, dogs, cats, and other wild animals such as wolves, deer, lions, or panthers. Fiot's style was very modern, dynamic, and streamlined, setting him apart from other sculptors of the time who created more static works influenced by Art Deco style. Fiot's bronzes stand out through his keen observation of movement, giving his subjects a striking vitality and realism.
